Brooklyn College Library

The Brooklyn College Library serves as the intellectual and creative center of academic life at the college. The library is a leader in information access and dissemination throughout Brooklyn, the City University of New York, and beyond. In addition to its impressive and ever-growing collection of resources, the library offers instructional workshops and sponsors cultural events. See the latest library news and events.

Current members of the Brooklyn College community have access to the library’s physical and virtual collections, including circulation privileges and remote access. The library provides services to individuals with disabilities. Access is also provided to affiliated members and Library Associates/Friends of the Library. Contact Circulation at 718.951.5335 or inquire at the library entrance for information regarding access and borrowing privileges.

The library owns more than 1.3 million print volumes and provides access to over 40,000 electronic books and over 28,000 electronic journals. The print and electronic collections can be accessed through the library’s catalog and lists of online databases and online journal collections. Research subject guides and research help—including 24/7 chat reference—can also be found online. Subject specialists offer in-depth assistance at our Reference, Music, and Government Information service desks. The Library’s office of Research Services provides both traditional interlibrary loan services and access to commercial document suppliers. The library provides support for Blackboard, the online learning and course support tool of the Brooklyn College community.

The library’s Archives and Special Collections Division is committed to acquiring, preserving, and providing access to the records of enduring value that document the Brooklyn College community, including published and unpublished works relating to the unique cultural, social, and historical development of the Borough of Brooklyn and its many and varied neighborhoods. The library also offers an Archival Studies Minor in conjunction with the History Department.

The library offers a wide range of services. Students often use the New Media Center, group study rooms and the library’s extensive computing facilities, including the Library Café and the wireless network. Faculty come to the library for the Faculty Training & Development Laboratory, Copyright Information, and more.
