"When I looked at the College's national academic standing, its ranking as one of the best public colleges by Princeton Review, and the many noted alumni, it was a pretty easy decision." Harder for Jankelewicz is determining what career path to follow after graduation. If his choice is math, he will likely go on to graduate school in that field. If he pursues one of the sciences, he will consider a career in pediatric oncology research. "It's terrible to see kids suffer," he says. The Brooklyn native-he grew up in the Kensington area-likes the fact that most of the students at Brooklyn College also hail from New York City's biggest borough. "We can relate to each other because we come from similar situations. Most of us went to public schools and we have similar financial backgrounds. We come from hardworking, modest families," he says. "There's a lot of diversity here, and we are all very considerate of each other." |
