Our Faculty
Brooklyn College is undergoing an exciting renewal and revitalization phase. Since fall 2000, the College has hired more than 230 new faculty who bring superb expertise, enthusiasm, and energy to our enterprise.
One of the overarching goals that guides our new strategic plan is to maintain and improve academic quality. It is Brooklyn College policy that teaching and learning are enhanced by an environment that fosters original scholarship. We consider faculty our most precious resource, and believe the future of the institution is integrally tied to and dependent on our faculty's professional, as well as personal, success.
New faculty recruitment over the past five years has resulted in the hiring of a pool of ethnically and culturally diverse men and women, many of whom are joining us at the peak of their teaching and research careers. Visit the Faculty Day Conference and Awards Ceremony for more information on our faculty.
These talented individuals come to Brooklyn College after post-doc, reseach, and teaching posts at such institutions as Cambridge University, Shenyang Agricultural University in China, Columbia's Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
They have received grants and degrees from highly acclaimed organizations and universities. They are contributors to peer-reviewed journals as well as published journalists and authors, and have been featured in solo art exhibitions and musical perfomances.
The strategic plan commits the College to building up the quality and productivity of its faculty scholarship and grantsmanship. We are dedicated to directing our resources to new faculty launching their research careers, to researchers who need time to pursue their projects, and to faculty who can introduce undergraduate and graduate students to the rigors of academic research.
