The On Course Advantage — A Fast Track Program for First-Year Students
Students who have successfully completed at least 12 credits in their first semester with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and who plan to register for at least 12 credits in their second semester are invited to participate in a program that will help them graduate in four years.
Graduation in four years will be the goal of the program, but students may also develop individual plans for graduation in five or even six years, depending on their goals and circumstances.
Benefits to Participants
Participating students will receive:
- Priority registration each semester that they continue in the program
- Individual academic advisement and liaison with registration related offices
- Guaranteed availability of required courses or suitable substitutes as determined by the major department
- Opportunities for affiliation with the Honors Academy
- Special notation of completion of program on their transcript
- One on one advisement with a designated registration advisor during the pre-registration period to help plan their programs
- Invitations to receptions and special events
- Special internship opportunities
- Special workshops on career and pre-professional planning
Requirements for Participants
To be eligible for the four-year graduation guarantee a first-year student must:
- Possess the skills and academic preparation needed to handle the requirements of the chosen major, as determined by the major department
- Declare a major prior to applying to the program
- Meet the credit requirements (120 credits minimum) for the baccalaureate degree sought and fulfill all college and major academic, grade and course work requirements
- Maintain continuous enrollment and good academic standing in the college (3.0 overall GPA) and the major
- Pay all tuition and fees by the required deadline(s)
