| TITLE: | Beyond Sterilization: The Experience of Puerto Rico |

| DESCRIPTION: | Professor Lopez teaches at City College of New York (CCNY). She is a member of the Sociology Department and the director of the Latin American and Latino Studies Program. She has a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Columbia University and has been a visiting professor at the University of California in Los Angeles and the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Her most recent book is Matters of Choice: Puerto Rican Women’s Struggle for Reproductive Freedom (Rutgers University Press 2008). She is currently undertaking an intergenerational study on the Puerto Rican community in Hawai’i and examining the forces that maintain their ethnic identity over five generations and the ways they have influenced Hawai’ian society. | ||
