Being a Catalyst for Change: The Legacy of Shirley Chisholm |
| DESCRIPTION: |
Donna Brazile is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, author, syndicated columnist, television political
commentator, vice chair of Voter Registration and Participation at the Democratic National Committee, and former chair of the
DNC’s Voting Rights Institute. A New Orleans native, Brazile works for the full recovery of her beloved New Orleans. Also, Brazile’s passions include encouraging young people to vote, to work within the system to strengthen it, and to run for public
office. She has worked on every presidential campaign from 1976 through 2000, when she served as campaign manager for former
Vice President Al Gore, becoming the first African American woman to manage a presidential campaign. Her publications include Cooking with Grease: Stirring the Pots in American Politics, and articles have been published in United
Media, Ms. Magazine, and O, the Oprah Magazine. She has also been an on-air contributor to CNN and ABC, where she regularly
appears on “This Week with Christiane Amanpour.” Brazile is founder and managing director of a general consulting,
grassroots advocacy, and training firm based in Washington, D.C. |
