| TITLE: |
Encuentro 2010 “Diaspora, Diversity, and Dialogue” |
| DESCRIPTION: |
Come celebrate our fifth annual all-day event--The Possible Dream: Latin@ Arts, Communities, and Leadership Encuentro 2010. Its theme is Diaspora, Diversity, and Dialogue. It will celebrate the coming of age of our varied Latin@ communities as we highlight the complexity of the Diaspora, the diversity expressed through various art forms- poetry, music, art- and the ensuing dialogue of our community of students, staff, faculty, alumni, neighbors and our extended CUNY family. The Encuentro will feature panel discussions with students and faculty; career networking with alumni; a musical recital by pianist and alumnus, Cesar Reyes; an art exhibit curated by Maria Catalano Rand and Professor of Art Archie Rand; and culminate with an awards dinner honoring outstanding members of the Latin@ community, as we bestow the annual Don Quijote Awards. This year, a special posthumous award will be offered to Mr. G. Alex Boxill, '77, activist and former director of Veterans' Affairs at Brooklyn College. |
