Race to Nowhere |
| DESCRIPTION: |
Brooklyn College Community Partnership (BCCP) is hosting a screening of the film "Race to Nowhere" on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Brooklyn College Art Lab/301 Roosevelt Hall. "Race to Nowhere" ignites a national conversation about the pressures faced by American schoolchildren and teachers in a system obsessed with the illusion of achievement, competition and the pressure to perform through excessive school testing. Deborah Shanley, dean of the Brooklyn College School of Education; Monique Darrisaw, principal of the Academy for Urban Planning; and Nancy Romer, professor of psychology, will respond after the screening, and Steve Ausbury, deputy director of BCCP will moderate. Food will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. |
