The Wolfe Institute, in cooperation with the Department of Classics, the Department of Judaic Studies, the Department of History and the School of Education present an interdisciplinary colloquium, "North Africa and the Wider World." Topics include "The Revolt of the Libyans, 240BCE" (Liv Mariah Yarrow, Classics); "Spain, Morocco and Islam Before 1800" (Justin Stearns, NYU); "Historical Thought on France and the Maghreb Since 1830 (David Troyansky, History); "The Western Allies Invade North Africa...in 1942 (Sara Reguer, Judaic Studies); "Sporadic Interest: The U.S. and North Africa" (KC Johnson, History); and "Naming and Deterritorializing Events in North Africa" (Marnia Lazreg, Hunter College). |
