| TITLE: |
Lecture/performance: A Feminist View of Anglo-American Folksong |
| DESCRIPTION: |
As daughter of composer and song collector Ruth Crawford Seeger, half-sister of Pete Seeger, and sister of Mike Seeger, Peggy Seeger is a member of one of America’s greatest musical families. An acclaimed singer of traditional Anglo-American songs and an activist songmaker, she is also a multi-instrumentalist and has recorded 21 solo albums, participating directly in more than a hundred others. She is probably best known for her feminist song Gonna Be an Engineer and for The Ballad of Springhill, which is rapidly becoming regarded as a traditional song.
