Memoirs of a Jewminicana: Blending American, Dominican, Jewish, and Gender Identities

DESCRIPTION: Aliza Hausman will speak and respond to questions. Aliza Hausman, a fascinating and brilliant young author of Dominican background, born and raised in Washington Heights, left home as a teenager to embark on a journey of identity. Now in her late 20s, she has a remarkable sense of what it means to have an identity and to choose how to construct one’s own identity. Aliza Hausman crosses many boundaries: Dominican, of color, Orthodox Jewish, feminist, a writer and speaker. Married to a rabbinical student at Yeshiva University, she resides in Riverdale in the Bronx. Aliza Hausman is provocative, energetic, creative, observant and positive. To learn more about her, see Sponsored by the Department of Judaic Studies and the Core Curriculum Program. Co-sponsored by the Honors College, Phi Beta Kappa, Puerto Rican and Latino Studies Department, and Women’s Studies Program.
