| TITLE: | Prior Knowledge in the Core Classroom |

| DESCRIPTION: | Roberta S. Matthews Center for Teaching. Mobina Hashmi (TVR) & Stephanie Jensen-Moulton (Music) & Michael Meagher (Education) This workshop focuses on ways in which the engagement of students’ prior knowledge of core subject matter can help bring about a balance between the practicalities of life in the classroom and the creative aspects of teaching that make core classes both interesting and integral to undergraduates’ general education. Faculty will be encouraged to re-examine their courses with the assessment of prior knowledge in mind, and to envision a course that draws as much information out of students at the start of term as at term’s end. | ||
