BC Sustainability Roundtable: Sustainability Notes #7 |
| DESCRIPTION: |
Across the U. S. and around the world, communities are beginning to
recognize that current technological and social practices are unsustainable.
Ultimately, humans must wean themselves from nonrenewable resources,
reduce their impact on the environment, and alter their institutions to
guarantee a healthy world will be delivered to future generations.
Brooklyn College faculty are helping to build the means to these ends. You
are invited to learn more about their ongoing research at this series of short,
non-technical presentations.
This session will include:
Greening a Profession: Networking and Programming to Heighten Sustainability Consciousness among Librarians and Information Professionals
Prof. Elizabeth Evans, Department of Library Science and Prof. Rita Ormsby, The William and Anita Newman Library, Baruch College
New Refrigerants to Address Climate Change: Can You Have Your Cake and Eat It Too?
Prof. Thomas Lewandowski, Department of Health and Nutrition Sciences
Human-Driven Ocean Acidification and Marine Life
Prof. John Marra, Department of Geology and Director, AREAC
