| TITLE: | BC Math Club Presents Professor Christian Benes: Probability and the Real World |

| DESCRIPTION: | Randomness is everywhere... The stock market, the NBA playoffs, tomorrow's weather, the number of years each of us gets to live, and so on. As soon as one can't predict the outcome of an experiment with certainty, it becomes helpful to have an understanding of the underlying random structure in that experiment. A few models from Probability Theory will be presented that will touch on the topics of roulette, voting, geology, forest fires, drunken birds and genetics. All this in a random order, of course. | ||
