| DESCRIPTION: |
Brooklyn College will celebrate the career of the late John Hope Franklin, one of the most influential historians of the twentieth century and a former chairperson of the college's Department of History, at an event on Wednesday, May 27, at 3:00 p.m. in Tanger Auditorium (Library). Among the scheduled speakers are President Christoph Kimmich, Department chairs David Troyansky (History) and George Cunningham (Africana Studies), Professor of Sociology and Children's Studies Gertrud Lenzer, and Fordham University scholar Brian Purnell, who is currently writing on Franklin's scholarship. There will be opportunities for others who knew Professor Franklin to speak. |
