FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (September 25, 2009)—Brooklyn College’s Department of Theater will present, Pulitzer Prize Finalist, Theresa Rebeck’s Mauritius, a high stakes and fast paced play about desperate people trying to take possession of a priceless stamp collection they believe can transform them, link them to the past, or provide them with a future. Filled with relationships ripe with tension, Mauritius asks: What do we value? How do we define ownership? Who can we trust, and who has power? Julie Tong is a second year Directing MFA at Brooklyn College. Julie’s directing credits include: Fidelity Future Stage (Off-Broadway), 9, Tav Vital Theatre, Vestibular Theater 5, The Tempest, Paid in Full, The Date at Looking Glass Theater. She was the Associate Director of Broadway’s In My Life, and Off-Broadway’s The J.A.P. Show. She is a teaching artist at The Roundabout Theatre Company and has a BA from Sarah Lawrence College.
Performances take place October 22-25: Thurs. - Sat. at 7:30 PM; Sat. & Sun. at 2 PM at the New Workshop Theater on the Brooklyn College Campus, 2900 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY (Flatbush Avenue stop on the 2 train).
