Please write your full name, the last four digits of your student ID, and the semester(s) for which you are paying for on all checks or money orders.

Why am I not allowed to pay by check or electronic funds transfer?

It is likely that a check you previously presented to the college was not honored by your bank and a penalty fee was incurred by Brooklyn College as a result. Therefore, you can only pay online using an accepted major credit or debit card. You can also pay in person using cash or a money order at the Enrollment Service Center, located in the lobby of the West Quad Center. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Office of the Bursar at 718.951.5200.

I am not allowed to pay by check and only have a VISA credit card. What should I do?

You can pay in person using cash or a money order at the Enrollment Service Center, located in the lobby of the West Quad Center. You can also mail a copy of your bill along with a money order to:

Brooklyn College
Enrollment Services Center
Attention: Billing and Payments
2900 Bedford Avenue

What is Electronic Funds Transfer?

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) is a method of transferring money from your checking or savings account to Brooklyn College without having to write a paper check. Full details on how to make an electronic funds transfer are available on the payment screen in BC WebCentral. There is no convenience fee for electronic funds transfers. If you have questions regarding an electronic funds transfer, please contact the Office of the Bursar at 718.951.5200.

How do the charges appear on my credit card or banking statement?

Credit card payments appear as two separate charges on your account. For credit and debit card users, the vendor is Brooklyn College. The convenience fee will appear as EDS Convenience Fee.

For checking and savings account payments, the debit against the account is to Brooklyn College. There is no convenience fee for checking and savings account payments.

What is a convenience fee?

A convenience fee is a charge that the paying agent, service provider, merchant or any other entity that accepts credit or debit cards charges to process your transaction with the individual credit card company.

Why am I being charged a 2.65 percent convenience fee for online credit card payments?

The change in the way credit and debit card payments are accepted is due to a CUNY-wide change in the payment procedure required to offset the costs imposed on CUNY by credit card processing companies. The 2.65 percent convenience fee is collected by the university's paying agent for processing your transactions. Brooklyn College does not receive any portion of the fee.

Credit card payments for tuition and fees can no longer be made in person. When paying online, a nonrefundable convenience fee of 2.65 percent will be charged to your account in addition to your tuition and fees. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Bursar at 718.951.5200.

Is the tuition payment plan option still available?

Brooklyn College continues to provide an interest-free tuition payment plan option via the TuitionPay Plan. For more information, visit CUNY TuitionPay or call 866.267.2869 for more information.

Are there other options for paying my bill?

In addition to credit/debit cards, money orders and cash, we will accept a certified check. A certified check is one in which the bank guarantees that funds exist in the dollar amount that appears on the face of the check. This is a possible option for students who have given checks to the college that were not honored by the bank. Certified checks can be presented at the cashier stations in the Enrollment Services Center. Because the money is taken out by the bank when they issue the check, you must know the exact amount of charges on your bill and make the check out for that amount.

The college also accepts wire transfer payments and payments from third parties. For more information, please call us at 718.951.5200, visit us in the lobby of the West Quad Center, or e-mail us.
