Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) Seminars to India and Taiwan Deadline 8/1/18
The Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) Seminars are two-week in length and are designed specifically for U.S. higher education professionals. These seminars demystify higher education in the destination country and include campus visits with a cross-section of universities and colleges; briefings with faculty and administrators, government officials, and leading educational experts; and tours of historical and cultural sites.
Upcoming deadlines include:
- India – Deadline: August 1, 2018
- Taiwan – Deadline: August 1, 2018
- CCAS - Russia – Deadline: October 15, 2018
- Japan- Deadline: November 1, 2018
- Korea- Deadline: November 1, 2018
- France– Deadline: February 1, 2019
- Germany- Deadline: February 1, 2019
Grants generally include round-trip airfare, travel within the host country, lodging, and a lump sum supplement for incidentals.

Fulbright Scholar-In-Residence (S-I-R) Program Deadline October 15, 2018
We invite your institution to apply to host a visiting scholar on your campus through the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program! Our next webinar will take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 2-3pm ET. This webinar will include an inside look at the S-I-R program and allow for applicants to ask any last minute questions. To see a full listing of our archived webinars, please visit our website.

Call for Proposals & Conference Collaboration
IIE’s Outreach and Recruitment team attends over fifty conferences a year. To highlight the impact Fulbright has on campuses throughout the U.S., we look to partners in submitting proposals to promote the program and assist others in developing a Fulbright culture at their institutions.

Fulbright Outreach Lecturing Fund
The Fulbright Outreach Lecturing Fund is seeking to build relationships and partnerships with institutions that are currently underrepresented within the Fulbright Program as a means to promote future opportunities.

Regional Highlights: East Asia & the Pacific | Europe | MENA | Western Hemisphere
East Asia & the Pacific
The East Asia and the Pacific region offers over 50 award opportunities, and close to 150 grants, for U.S. faculty, researchers, and professionals at every stage of their career through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.
Many awards welcome applications from any field of study, and two awards allow for multi-country opportunities within the region, the ASEAN Research Program and the Cross-Strait Studies Research Program. Awards for the 2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program include:
- Australia: Fulbright Senior Award (Sponsored by Central Queensland University)
- China: Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts (Research)
- Japan: Study of the United States (Teaching in Social Sciences and Humanities)
- Macao: All Disciplines
- Philippines: Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization

Europe
The Europe and Eurasia region offers a wide range of opportunities for U.S. academics and professionals to engage in original research and have impactful teaching experiences through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.
With 273 awards in 45 European and Eurasian countries, there is diverse range of opportunities: from multi-country opportunities in the European Union to discipline specific awards such as Migration Studies in Marseille, STEM opportunities in Ukraine and France, an Interfaith award in Albania to Early Career and Flex option awards. Awards for the 2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program include:
- Belgium: Hasselt University All Disciplines Award
- Croatia: Business Administration and Economics
- Estonia: Multiple Disciplines
- France: Fulbright-Tocqueville Distinguished Chair
- Italy: Fulbright Lectureship in Sustainability & Circular Economy at the University of Bologna

Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar program to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) offers unique opportunities for scholars to immerse themselves in one of the most dynamic cultural and social landscapes in the world. Fulbright Scholars to MENA contribute to the region’s legacy of excellence in scholarship through a wide range of awards. From pursuing postdoctoral research in Israel, to training the next generation of educators in Bahrain, to a myriad of All-Discipline awards, MENA Fulbright Scholars have a diverse range of research and teaching options at all career levels and in a variety of fields. MENA-based Fulbright Scholars may also consider a multi-country research grant and also may apply for intraregional travel grants while on the program.

Western Hemisphere
The United States is linked to the countries of the Western Hemisphere by physical proximity, shared values, and vast cultural, commercial, and demographic ties. Through decades of collaboration and partnership, Western Hemisphere nations have built strong networks that facilitate the efficient movement of knowledge, ideas and technology throughout the region.
With close to 60 awards in over 30 countries there is diverse range of opportunities in the Western Hemisphere: from a series of research awards in Canada, a border award with Mexico, to a wide variety of All Disciplines awards throughout Central America and the Caribbean, and a large range of compelling opportunities throughout South America! Awards for the 2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program include:

Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs is excited to announce that the 2019-2020 competition for the Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship is now open. The Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship provides opportunities for early- and mid-career professionals and practitioners to serve in professional placements in a foreign government ministry or institution.
Fulbright Public Policy Fellows build their public policy knowledge, skills, and experience while providing American public policy expertise to support partner country institutions. Fellows promote long-term ties between the United States and partner countries through this flexible and innovative component of the Fulbright Program.
2019-2020 Fulbright Public Policy Fellowships are available in:
- Burma
Cote d’Ivoire
Peru
Ukraine

Ambassador's Distinguished Scholars Program to Ethiopia
Looking for opportunities to teach and conduct research in Ethiopia? The Ambassador's Distinguished Scholars Program, a new program supported by the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia and two Ethiopian universities, is accepting applications until May 15.
Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship and a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree. Opportunities are available in 60+disciplines, like STEM, Agriculture, English, Law, Public Health, and more. Learn more at www.iie.org/adsp.

2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Competition is OPEN
The Fulbright Scholar Program offers nearly 500 teaching, research or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars and many others.
In addition to several new program models designed to meet the changing needs of U.S. academics and professionals, Fulbright is offering more opportunities for flexible, multi-country grants.

2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Competition Will Open On March 1, 2018
We have been working closely with Fulbright Commission and Posts abroad to make improvements to this year’s award offerings, which will be available when we launch an enhanced catalog of awards.

Fulbright Scholar Liaison Workshops: Albuquerque, NM (4/12-4/13)
Many thanks to the institutions that participated in our inaugural Fulbright Institutional Training session in New Orleans and in Washington, DC.
We look forward to a fruitful and prosperous year ahead with your institutions!
The next training is scheduled for Albuquerque, NM from April 12-13.
These workshops are the most comprehensive training available on all Fulbright Scholar Program awards offered by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. While registration is free and breakfast and lunch is provided, institutions are expected to incur all travel costs for their representative's participation in the event.

- Become informed about trending fields and country programs within the Fulbright Program
- Learn best practices and strategies on how to promote Fulbright on your campus
