Central Routing FAQs

How do I ship a package?

Brooklyn College has an account with UPS. Simply have an authorized individual from your area bring the item you wish to ship to the Roosevelt Hall loading dock. We will then arrange for the package to be picked up and shipped.

How am I billed for shipment of a package?

The transaction is billed to your department’s OTPS (Other Than Personnel Service) account.

How do I return merchandise to a vendor?

Call Purchasing to obtain the purchase order (PO) number if the merchandise has a standard PO# (State, Research Foundation, Dormitory Authority, etc.) If there is no PO#, call the vendor to obtain an order number. Then, bring the package and the appropriate number to us so that we can return the merchandise.

Do I have to pay for a package I’m returning to the vendor?

No, as long as the package is not more than 30 days past the invoice date. Within that time frame, the vendor is responsible for return-shipment charges. If you are returning an item more than 30 days after receipt, you must first obtain the approval to do so from your department head and then ship the package via UPS. (See: How do I ship a package?)

I’ve ordered something — how can I find out if it has arrived yet?

Provide Central Routing with a tracking number and we will check the status of your package. Generally, we e-mail the tracking number to you for your records. If you don’t have a tracking number, call the vendor first, obtain the number, and then call Central Routing.

Can I have personal packages shipped to Central Routing?

No, personal items are not accepted at Central Routing.
