Associate Dean - School of Business

Brooklyn College, part of the City University of New York, invites inquiries, nominations, and expressions of interest for the position of Associate Dean of the School of Business.  Under the leadership of Founding Dean Dr. Willie Hopkins, the Brooklyn College School of Business is preparing to become a fully AACSB-accredited business school that will lead in preparing young business and management professionals to meet the challenges of a complex global business environment.

Reporting directly to Dean Hopkins, the Associate Dean will collaborate with faculty and department chairs to prepare the school for its initial AACSB accreditation, assist with strategic planning processes, expand curricula and programs, develop and implement an enrollment management plan, and complete other tasks as required.  The Associate Dean will also be expected to perform some teaching duties.

For this important administrative position, the new School of Business seeks an innovative and knowledgeable academic leader who will uphold and model the School of Business values, and work with faculty, staff and students to promote a positive and collaborative climate across the School and campus.  The ideal candidate will be an intellectual leader and educator with a distinguished record of scholarship in her/his field, hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree in a business discipline from an AACSB or similarly accredited business school, and have experience or familiarity with AACSB accreditation processes and curriculum development.  Appointment to this position will be at the rank of associate or full professor, and tenure may be granted upon appointment, depending on qualifications and experience.

The School of Business consists of three departments (i.e., Accounting, Economics, and Finance and Business Management) and is the third largest public business school in New York State.  This is a particularly exciting period of remarkable evolution and growth for Brooklyn College, which recently created four new schools, each led by an inaugural dean responsible for articulating a vision and developing a strategy for the College’s continued expansion and success.

Brooklyn College offers a picturesque campus environment in an urban setting near the heart of Manhattan.  The College provides rigorous academic studies in over 130 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.  In recent years, the College’s admissions criteria have become increasingly selective, applications continue to rise, and high-achieving students are especially attracted to the Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College.  Particularly noted for the diversity of its student body, Brooklyn College currently enrolls over 17,000 students who represent nearly every country in the world.

The appointment for this position begins on or before August 1, 2013.  Brooklyn College has retained the executive search services of Witt/Kieffer and consultant Brian Bloomfield (949-797-3548) to assist in this recruitment, which will continue until the position is filled.  Nominations, inquiries and candidate materials (e.g. resume/CV and cover letter or biographical summary) can be sent in confidence via email to Witt/Kieffer at BrooklynAssocDean@WittKieffer.com.  Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat files are preferred.
