Medicare Prescrption Coverage
Your welfare fund has sent information to you regarding Medicare Part D. Please be aware that, as a Brooklyn College retiree, your welfare fund provided prescription coverage is often more generous than the coverage under the new Medicare Prescription Drug Program. This means that most college retirees do not need to enroll in the Medicare Prescription Drug Program and incur any additional cost. - American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is a nonprofit membership organization of persons 50 and older dedicated to addressing their needs and interests. This organization offers different kinds of personal finance workshops and seminars as well as tips on staying healthy, exercising, managing diabetes and maintaining your mental health. In addition, AARP has helpful advice and suggestions regarding legal services, home design, etc. If you want to plan a trip, AARP can assist you with bookings, travel tips and discounts.
- The Department of the Aging provides a variety of services and programs to senior citizens, includng senior housing search, job development and training, senior employment services, foster grandparent program and intergenerational program. It also provides information about volunteering projects, Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) program, health and wellness, and much more.
- Elderhostel is a nonprofit organization devoted to providing extraordinary learning adventures for people 55 and older. These adventurous programs are located in more than 90 countries and offer in-depth and behind-the-scene learning experiences for almost every interest and ability.
- SeniorNet is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing computer and Internet education for people 50 and older.
