Athletics (Recreation Facilities)

Staff and faculty have access to the college’s recreation facilities at a discounted membership fee.

Brooklyn College staff and faculty also have access to the West Quad track on our athletics field for daily use at no cost. The current hours of operation are Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.; and Sundays, noon–3 p.m. The track will not be open if we have inclement weather, if it is being used by students participating in academic programs, or if it is being used by our athletics teams.

Campus and Community Safety Services

The Office of Campus and Community Safety Services offers a variety of safety tips and services (such as shuttle escort services, bicycle rack, hotline numbers, and lost and found) for the college community. All criminal actions or other emergencies occurring on campus must be reported immediately to the Office of Campus and Community Safety Services. The Annual Security Report, campus crime statistics, CUNY policies, and crime prevention tips are also available on the office’s website.

Check Distribution

The Enrollment Services Center receives all state payroll checks and disburses them to college employees. Checks may be picked up after 3 p.m. on the Wednesday before payday. Those who have direct deposit may either pick up payroll stubs or have them sent to the department. Check distribution is located in the lobby of the West Quad Center. CUNY A!ert

CUNY A!ert is an emergency notification system that will enable the university’s campuses to advise students, staff, and faculty of an emergency (a severe hurricane or snowstorm, for example), and provide timely information to protect lives and minimize campus disruption. CUNY Technology Services

CUNY-wide applications and technology services are available to CUNY students, staff, and faculty. All you need is your CUNY Login to access these resources. Visit the Technology Services page and click on the Student, Faculty, or Staff tab at the top to view resources available to you.

Emergency Management Guide

Emergencies, accidents, injuries, and other unexpected events can occur at any time and place. Contact the Office of Campus and Community Safety Services at 718.951.5511 if you have any questions concerning emergency procedures.

A major snowfall, blackout, or severe weather may force cancellation of college schedules.

Health Clinic’s Health Resources

The Health Clinic’s resources page provide a variety of educational resources such as hotline numbers, alcohol and drug use, antibiotics, bedbugs, contraception, dermatology, eating disorders, gambling, general health information, and more. These resources are designed for educational and resource purposes only and are not a substitute for professional care.

Lactation Room

A lactation room is available for nursing mothers in the Early Childhood Center at 1604 James Hall, and the John Whyte Room, 303 Student Center. Visit the HR Policies page for more information on Lactation Room policy and procedures.

LGBTQ+ Resource Center

The LGBTQ+ Resource Center is both a welcoming space and supportive network for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual and/or ally (LGBTQIA) students, staff, and faculty at Brooklyn College.

Library and Academic IT

The Brooklyn College Library and Academic IT offers adjunct and full-time faculty a wide range of services and resources at the library, such as classroom resources, technology resources, research and writing, citing resources, and instructional sessions for students to enhance their research skills. Staff and faculty can also reserve a room at the library for events and meetings, and professors can place required reading materials on reserve for students to access on campus 24/7.

Personal Counseling

Personal Counseling is available for staff and faculty members who need assistance when dealing with students with personal problems or who present violent behavior.

Pregnancy and Employment Rights

If you are pregnant or recovering from childbirth, you may be entitled to a reasonable accommodation to allow you to perform the essential functions of your job. You are protected from discrimination on the basis of your pregnancy or related medical conditions under New York City law. If you think you need an accommodation, contact the Office of Human Resource Services. If you think you have been discriminated against on the basis of pregnancy, contact the Office of Diversity and Equity Programs.
