Facilities
AREAC is a 15,000-square-foot facility dedicated to basic and applied studies of aquatic organisms and the environments they inhabit. The 10,000-square-foot saltwater area is a re-circulating seawater system, allowing control of temperature, salinity, and photoperiod. There is also a separate 3,000-square-foot lab for growing and experimentation of freshwater organisms. A 2,000-square-foot adjacent lab is equipped for water quality and various analyses, including morphology, immunochemistry, molecular biology, and biochemical assays.
