The Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program is a two-year honors undergraduate program that aims to increase the number of underrepresented scientists in biomedical and behavioral fields. Specifically, the program prepares students through research training for entry into Ph.D. programs following their undergraduate career. Students whose primary interest is in clinical practice (M.D. and its variations like dentistry, podiatry, optometry, veterinary medicine, etc.) will not be considered for the program. However, students interested in combining a Ph.D. with a clinical degree (M.D./Ph.D.) may be considered.
MARC Fellows usually enter the program in their junior year and are expected to spend at least 12 hours a week working with a Brooklyn College faculty member. In addition to research and mentorship, the program offers financial support in the form of stipend and tuition, and a variety of academic and personal support systems to increase students’ academic success.
