M-PEER aims to address the shortage of minority individuals in biomedical and behavioral science research. Therefore, students interested in joining M-PEER must adhere to the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Be a member of a group that is underrepresented in the biomedical sciences, including, but not limited to, African American/Black, Latino/Hispanic, Pacific Islander, or Native American
  • Be a freshman, sophomore or first-semester transfer student
  • Have a GPA of 3.00 or higher (for freshmen)
  • Have a GPA of 3.20 or higher (for sophomores and transfer students)
  • Carry a full-time course load each semester (12 credits minimum)
  • Declare a major in the sciences
  • Have a background in mathematics and science
