You want to take what you’ve learned about the mechanics and effects of speech to the next level. The Department of Communication Arts, Sciences, and Disorders has both the distinguished faculty and the cutting-edge resources that will help you attain that goal. You’ll have access to a comprehensive range of studies in all aspects of human speech and related pathologies. Through a combination of course work, research, and clinical practicum, you’ll gain a thorough grounding in the mechanics of speech and learn to recognize and treat speech disorders in adults and children, including those related to the voice, language, aphasia, stuttering, speech-and-language learning disabilities, and others.

Programs

Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology

Our highly regarded Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program prepares students for careers as speech-language pathologists in community speech, language, and hearing centers; hospitals; school systems; rehabilitative agencies; and private practices.

Specialization in Early Intervention

The Specialization in Early Intervention is an option within the graduate program in speech-language pathology, with course work designed to engage in clinical practice with infants, toddlers, young children, and their families.  This option is open to students who have been accepted into the master’s program in speech-language pathology.

Advanced Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders PROGRAM

The advanced certificate in autism spectrum disorders program has been designed to reflect a range of research-based approaches available for work with children on the autistic spectrum. These include applied behavioral analysis, natural learning paradigms, and developmental social-pragmatic approaches.

CUNY Audiology Au.D. Program

Students interested in pursuing a career in audiology can apply to the CUNY Clinical Doctoral (Au.D.) Program, a consortium of Brooklyn College, Hunter College, and the CUNY Graduate Center.
