Since 2009, Mark Patkowski has been professor and director of the Linguistics Program, English Department. Previously, he was professor and deputy chairman for graduate programs, English Department (2004-09); professeur invité, Département d'Etudes Littéraires Anglaises, Université de Paris-8, France (Fall 2006); associate professor, English Department (1995-2003); assistant professor, Educational Services Department (1986-94); assistant professor of linguistics and director of the English Language Program, Comparative Literature and Languages Department, Hofstra University (1981-86); and Fulbright lecturer in ESL and linguistics, English Department, National University of Rwanda (1983-84). He has taught all levels of ESL, undergraduate freshman composition, and undergraduate and graduate linguistics courses, including: Introduction to Linguistics; Applied Linguistics; Sociolinguistics; Syntax; Second Language Acquisition; Assessment and Evaluation in TESOL; and Semiotics.

Areas of Expertise:
Linguistics, applied linguistics, and second language acquisition.
