Composer, pianist, educator and founder of the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra and the non profit Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, Arturo O'Farrill is a 4 time Grammy winner and creator of the Masters Program in Global, Contemporary and Experimental Jazz Studies for The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music. Mr. O'Farrill has performed throughout the world and recorded extensively both as a sideman and as a leader. He is a commissioned composer whose works have been performed internationally. He is a frequent collaborator with the Dance world and has worked with Ballet Hispanico, Alvin Ailey and Malpaso. He is also recognized as an unofficial diplomat for his decades long work with cultural relations in Cuba. He is a Steinway Artist and a former governor with the National academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
