Joe W. Burden Jr. is an Assistant Professor and he has expertise in physical education teacher education (PETE) and has an emerging line of scholarly research publications in refereed journals, has co-authored several book chapters, and exhibits leadership through service involvement in the Alliance and beyond.
He received a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree from Norfolk State University and a Master of Science (M.S) degree from Michigan State University. In May of 2007, Burden received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in PETE Pedagogy from Louisiana State University. While a doctoral student, he received the Alliance's Social Justice and Diversity Committee's Young Professional Award. Since earning his doctoral degree, Burden has quickly established himself as a recognized scholar in the PETE profession and advocate for social justice and diversity in education and sport.
