Associate Professor George Rothman is the music director and conductor of Brooklyn College's Conservatory Orchestra. Co-founder, music director and conductor of Riverside Symphony since its 1981 inception, Rothman leads the orchestra in its annual concert series at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. He has guest conducted throughout Europe, South America, the Far East and the United States. He has been widely praised by major critics here and abroad for his musically sensitive, incisive performances and recordings. Rothman's recording of Andrew Imbrie's Requiem was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Classical Composition in 2000, and his recording of Poul Ruder's Violin Concerto No. 1 for Bridge Records (BCD 9057) was an Editor's Pick for both Gramophone and The New York Times. Prior to his Brooklyn College appointment, he served on the faculties of Columbia and Yale universities.
