Kiyoka Koizumi is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist(MCHES)and has taught the following courses at Brooklyn College: Personal & Community Health, Health Care system in the U.S., School & Community Health Education, Community Health Program Planning and evaluation, Health Education Techniques, Healthy Aging, International Health, and U.S. Health Care Administration. Koizumi's research interests include the health of the elderly, women's reproductive issues and rights, and the health care system in Japan compared to that in the US. Koizumi is a member of the following professional organizations: President (2007-08) of the GNYSOPHE(Greater New York Society for Public Health Education; Society for Public Health Education(SOPHE); Public Health Association of New York City; American Public Health Association(APHA) and Gerontological Society of America (GSA).

Areas of Expertise:
Health education's main mission is to help individuals and communities achieve a higher level of health, through individual behavioral changes as well as extending efforts to the social, organizational, economic, regulatory and other environmental factors that interact with personal behavior in affecting health. It covers both individual health and that of the entire population. Koizumi's focus is on training young people to become effective health educators for our society.
