Tanya Pollard trained in Classics, English, and Comparative literature, at Oxford and Yale. She taught at Macalester College and Montclair State University before coming to Brooklyn College. She is author of Greek Tragic Women on Shakespearean Stages (Oxford, 2017) and Drugs and Theater in Early Modern England (Oxford, 2005), and has edited or co-edited an additional 5 books, including most recently Reader in Tragedy: An Anthology of Classical Criticism to Contemporary Theory (Bloomsbury, 2019), co-edited with Marcus Nevitt. Awards include a Rhodes Scholarship, an NEH Fellowship and a Whiting Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching. She is a member of the Council of Scholars for Theatre for a New Audience and has appeared on television in conversation with Ethan Hawke in Shakespeare Uncovered: Macbeth (BBC/PBS 2013) and with Christopher Plummer in Shakespeare Uncovered: King Lear (BBC 2015).
