The Claire Tow ’52 Distinguished Teacher Award

Namita Manohar, Sociology

This award ($10,000) was established through a generous gift from Leonard Tow ’50, in honor of his wife, Claire Tow ’52. It will be presented to a full-time faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding teaching effectiveness, mastery and creative application of pedagogic techniques, and dedication to helping students achieve the highest academic standards.

Award for Excellence in Teaching for Full-Time Faculty

Brigid O’Keeffe, History

This award ($5,000) will be presented to a full-time faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding teaching effectiveness.

Award for Excellence in Teaching for Part-Time Faculty

Sue-Ann Lallay, Psychology

This award ($5,000) will be presented to a part-time (adjunct) faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding teaching effectiveness.

Award for Excellence in Creative Achievement

Helen Phillips, English

This award ($5,000) will be presented to a faculty member (or “team”) who has demonstrated excellence in creative or artistic work.

This award ($1,500) will be presented to a faculty member for outstanding contributions as an adviser, mentor, and instructor to undergraduate students.

Eric M. Steinberg Award for College Citizenship

Lauren Mancia, History and Studies in Religion Program

This award ($5,000) will be presented to a faculty member (or “team”) for exceptional service to Brooklyn College community and/or fulfilling the college’s mission in our relationships with communities in the greater New York area and beyond.
