Implications for classroom teachers and other professionals in areas of interpersonal interactions, interagency collaboration, and instruction. Focus on historical, social and legal foundations of special education and the politics of special education. Theories of learning and development. Influence of gender, class, language, sexuality and race/ethnicity on the construction of disability, as interpreted within and across cultures. Field experiences in schools and a variety of community settings.
