Richard Barrett received a bachelor of music degree from Texas Christian University. He made his operatic debut with the Fort Worth Opera in 1969. He has appeared with the opera companies of Dallas; Houston; Boston; Santa Fe; Pittsburgh; Augusta, Georgia; Central City, Colorado; and San Antonio as well as the New Opera Theater of the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Houston Grand Opera. He has taught master classes throughout the United States.
