About two years ago, the Gerboth Music Library received nine boxes of materials (mostly new CDs for the collection) from the estate of Patrick Giles (1957–2005), a longtime writer for Opera News. Apparently, Giles never forgot growing up in Brooklyn, where he always delighted in the live music concerts he and his brother attended at Brooklyn College.

In fall 2009 the Gerboth Music Library was delighted to receive a donation of eight scores from Hunter College English Professor Gary Schmidgall. The scores included the piano-vocal score of Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha, ed. Vera Brodsky Lawrence and William Bolcom.
