Last Friday, Feb. 13, the Conservatory of Music held its annual Concerto Competition. The panel of judges were impressed by the high level of musicianship and artistry on display from the six participants, as reported by Professor George Rothman, who oversees the competition each year:

“Dear Conservatory Community,

I am very pleased to announce the winner of this year’s Concerto Competition, Tsung-Yu Liu, who performed Ginastera’s Harp Concerto magnificently. As this year’s winner, she will perform the complete work with the Conservatory Orchestra on March 31 at 7:30 in Whitman Theater. Please join me in congratulating her along with our other outstanding competitors — Dennis Shafer, Jonathan Bloomfield, Justin Chow, Julia Paré and Konrad Chan — all of whom performed impressively and reflected the wonderful and diverse depth of our conservatory talent. In addition, please extend our warmest gratitude to our distinguished panel of judges: Bruce MacIntrye, Alexie Lewis and Igor Pakyazen.

We are so pleased and proud of all of you.

Sincerely,

George Rothman
Conductor, Conservatory Orchestra
Brooklyn College”

We look forward to a beautiful concert on March 31 and congratulate Tsung-Yu on her wonderful accomplishment.
