Auditions
Conservatory auditions are held in March, May, and December. Our next auditions will be held in December, 2019.
Our May and December 2019 auditions are scheduled as follows:
- Brass/Woodwinds: Tuesday, May 21, and December 17, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.*
- Guitar: Tuesday, May 21, and December 17, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Percussion: Friday, May 17 and December 13, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Piano: Tuesday, May 21, and December 17, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Strings: Friday, May 17, and Wednesday, December 18, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Voice: Friday, May 17 and December 20, 12–3 p.m.
Our principal Audition Day next year is Friday, March 13, 2020.
- Brass / Woodwinds: 9 a.m.–2:30 p.m.*
- Guitar: 11 a.m.–noon
- Percussion: 10–11:30 a.m.
- Piano: 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Strings: 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
- Voice: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Submit the online Undergraduate Audition Request Form to schedule your audition or contact the Conservatory Advisement Office via e-mail or at 718.951.5954 to schedule an audition time or obtain more information.** An accompanist is available for string players and vocalists. String players: Let us know that you will avail yourself of this prior to your audition and for what pieces. For general information, contact the Conservatory Office, 718.951.5286. Questions or inquiries may be sent to us via e-mail.
** It is strongly advised that students wear suitable attire to their audition.
Please be prepared to be at Brooklyn College for the entire day, as placement exams are administered in the afternoon.
Video Audition Submissions
Applicants living more than 500 miles distant may submit a high-quality video with stereo HD sound via an online URL (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) in lieu of a live audition following these instructions:
- Applicants submitting videos electronically must meet all audition requirements for their instrument. Consult those requirements via the links below.
- Applicants should submit one URL where all audition selections are located or one link to an online channel (youtube.com, vimeo.com, etc.) that contains the necessary audition repertoire.
- Each video should be labeled with the applicant's name, degree program, and title/composer of the audition repertoire.
