Alexandra Lewis, a Brooklyn native, attended Packer Collegiate Institute, and Wagner College, where she received a B.A. in English Literature. She did post-baccalaureate work at Brooklyn College in piano performance before earning her master's in musicology from Hunter College. In 2005, having completed her dissertation, "The Evocation of Water in 19th- and Early-20th-Century Music for Piano Solo," Lewis received her doctorate from the Graduate Center. In 2010, she became a full-time lecturer doctoral and teaches a wide array of courses including music history and performance skills. She designed the keyboard and ear-training programs and serves as coordinator of both. She continues to pursue her passion for the piano through performances and is an advocate of contemporary music. Lewis is a strong proponent of "Reacting to the Past" pedagogy and began creating her own games in 2009.
