EESC 2200 Sedimentology

2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory; 3 credits

Sediments and sedimentary rocks, their conditions of formation, basis of classifications; environments of deposition; methods of mechanical, chemical, mineralogical, graphical, and statistical analysis. Laboratory work will stress analysis of unconsolidated sediments and sedimentary rocks in hand-sample, and includes one or more field trips. Prerequisite: Earth and Environmental Sciences 1101 or 1201.
