Jessica Siegel is a journalist and a teacher, both important parts of who she is, and each enriches the other. As a journalist, Siegel writes about a variety of issues and topics but often comes back to covering education, especially urban education. She brings her skills as a journalist to the topic, but also her 12 years of teaching in the New York City public schools. As a professor/teacher, she draws from those same years, as well as her research and examination of educational issues, sometimes as a journalist. For Siegel, the intersection of these two fields informs the other as well as different parts of herself.
