Before joining the faculty of Brooklyn College and of the CUNY Graduate Center, Iakovos Vasiliou taught at Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University and Georgia State University.

Most of Vasiliou's research has been on Plato and Aristotle, but it extends to broader questions in ethics, epistemology and political philosophy.
