Folklore of the streets and neighborhoods of New York City. The urban environment as a region generating its own folklore and traditions. Customs, language, and symbols of urban life, past and present. Introduction to problems of fieldwork and methods of collecting urban folklore. This course is the same as English 3159 [25.4].
Prerequisite: sophomore or junior or senior standing.
