Shirley Chisholm Day
Nov. 24, 2009, is Shirley Chisholm Day at Brooklyn College, where we commemorate her life and legacy with a public presentation. This year, Shirley Chisholm Day will be celebrated in partnership with the White House Project "Run, Go, Lead."

This year, Shirley Chisholm Day celebrations include a talk in the Woody Tanger Auditorium (11 – 12:15 p.m.) followed by a luncheon (by invitation).
Speakers will include Marie Wilson, founder and director of the White House Project; Robert Gottleib, Chisholm's first student intern; and Yvonne Graham, deputy Brooklyn Borough president. Assemblyman Nick Perry, the person responsible for introducing the legislation making Shirley Chisholm's birthday a holiday recognized in New York State, will also be speaking.
The Shirley Chisholm Project of Brooklyn Women's Activism website will be inaugurated as well.
Also included in the presentations will be Daphe Brunet and Soribel, Feliz, two current recipients of the Shirley Chisholm intern scholarship.
