Examination of the fantastic as practiced in twentieth-century Argentina and Uruguay. Consideration of one of the most innovative literary genres of the twentieth century and its influence throughout Latin America as well as in Europe and the United States. Survey of the most important authors of fantastic literature (Lugones, Borges, Cortázar, Bioy Casares) as well as some more recent developments.
Prerequisite: Spanish *2010 [4] or permission of the chairperson.
