Comparative approach to the government and politics of the contemporary Caribbean. Major states in the Caribbean: Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, the Commonwealth Caribbean; and selected members of other territories. The political economy of these societies and the growth of mass movements. Foreign policies of various Caribbean states. This course is the same as Africana Studies 3145 [17.4].
Prerequisite: Core Studies 3 or Core Curriculum 1230 or Political Science 1001 or 1002 or 1003 or 1004 or 1005 or 1006, or English 1010 or equivalent, or permission of department.
