Who is my counselor?

Counselors are assigned to every student at the beginning of their freshman year. If your counselor changes, you receive a notice in the mail or your Brooklyn College email account.

Who is my CUNYCAP?

A CUNYCAP is assigned to each counselor. You can find out who your CUNYCAP is by contacting the SEEK Department.

What are Benchmarks and when are they due?

All freshman and sophomore SEEK students are required to complete Benchmark electronic portfolios which help them measure their own success in personal growth, college skills, and academic goals.  The goal of the first-year Benchmarks is to help students assess their academic performance in their transition from high school to college.  The sophomore experience focuses on making informed choices about declaring and pursuing a major.

Due dates are on the benchmarks brochure each student receives.

How do I register for classes?

Students must meet with their counselor to register.  It is recommend that students meet with their counselors in advance of the registration period to plan the next semester.

What are my counselor's office hours?

Typical counseling hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm.  However, hours fluctuate during the year based on student demand, registration, and faculty obligations.  Please call before visiting or schedule an appointment online via WebCentral.

I haven't been receiving emails from the college, is that normal?

Brooklyn College's primary method of communication is email to your Brooklyn College account.  If you do not sign into this account you will not be aware of important information about financial aid, school closings, campus activities, etc.  Even if you do not check this account you are responsible for the notifications that were sent.
