Direct Admissions Information — Fall 2013

Direct admissions applications are closed for fall 2013. Students may apply as nondegree applicants until Aug. 15 or apply for the spring 2014 semester.

Please complete the Direct Admissions Pre-Application Form (pdf) and e-mail it to us. Applications may also be faxed to our offices at 718.951.4506. Once your application is complete, you will be contacted by an admissions representative about your next steps.

Freshman Applicants

Freshman applicants need to submit the following documents to be processed for admission:

Freshman Admissions Criteria

  1. A minimum CAA (College Admissions Average) of 81 and a minimum combined SAT score of 1000 in Critical Reading and Math are required.

Transfer Applicants

Transfer applicants need the following documents to be processed for admission:

  • Completed Direct Admissions Pre-Application Form (pdf)
  • Completed CUNY Transfer Application
  • Official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended. (We will access CUNY college transcripts for applicants who have enrolled at CUNY schools; simply indicate the name of the CUNY school and the dates of attendance on the Direct Admissions Pre-Application Form. (For all other transcripts, please request in advance, as they may take some time to obtain.)

Transfer applicants with fewer than 25 credits completed must submit:

  • Official high school transcript
  • Official copy of SAT or ACT scores

Transfer Admissions Criteria

  1. Transfer students with fewer than 25 credits completed at the time of application must also fulfill our freshmen requirements and submit their high school documentation as part of the application process.  In addition, the student's completed college work must have an overall GPA of 2.30.
  2. Transfer students with 25 or more credits completed at the time of application must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.30.
  3. Students who have been awarded an associate's degree from a CUNY community college will be admitted with a minimum GPA of 2.00.
  4. Students who have been awarded a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution will be admitted with a minimum GPA of 2.00.

CUNY Assessment Test Exemption Information for Freshman and Transfer Applicants

In addition to meeting the entrance requirements, all students must prove they are exempt from the CUNY Assessment Test. Please see the table below to ensure that you are.

Note

During Direct Admissions we can only process transcripts from colleges within the United States. Applicants who have completed some or all of their post-secondary education outside of the United States should file with CUNY for the spring 2014 semester. Also, we cannot process applicants for the Percy Ellis Sutton Search for Elevation, Education and Knowledge (SEEK) Program.

Financial Aid 

Applicants who have not yet filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and plan on receiving financial aid should fill out the FAFSA right away.
