Campuswide
CUNY has allocated funds to update the fire alarm and security systems for all college buildings. Work is under way.
Hillel Gate
The Hillel Gate entrance to the campus, at Campus Road and Hillel Place, has been replaced with a temporary entrance approximately 50 yards further down Campus Road, immediately after the children's playground by Whitehead Hall. The new Hillel Gate will open in 2014, when construction of the Leonard & Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts is completed.
Ingersoll Hall Extension
Interior renovations will be made as we begin upgrading the science facilities, including a suite of new rooms and laboratories for chemistry and biology in addition to support space. The entrance adjacent to the lily pond continues to be renovated and will reopen in spring 2013.
James Hall
The new entrance facing the West Quad has been completed. Repairs to the building’s rooftop have made it necessary to place a scaffold at two of the building entrances. In addition, entrances from other sides of the building — including the one on Campus Road — will be turned into fire exits. The work will start in spring 2013 and should be completed by fall 2013.
Leonard & Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts
The demolition of the old Gershwin Hall has been completed. The project is on track for a fall 2014 opening. A new Hillel Gate will open after construction of center is completed.
Roosevelt Science Teaching Commons
Preliminary designs will be completed in October.
Student Center
The project to replace the existing electrical service will be completed by fall 2013.
West Quad Center
Repairs to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system is under way. The project should be finalized by early 2013.
Whitman Hall
Repairs to the façade are almost complete. The lower scaffolding will be removed in September.
