Now with a bachelor of arts (Mathematics Teacher 7-12) under her belt, Christina is ready to educate our next generation.

When Shannese Charles '19 transferred to Brooklyn College for her sophomore year, she had yet to discover that, after running track, her biggest passion would be radio. Majoring in television and radio, she has since landed high-profile radio internships with CBS News Radio, Power 105.1 FM, and Viacom, as well as steered the ship as president over at WBCR 1090AM - Brooklyn College Radio.

Alison Derevensky '19 takes her urban sustainability studies and role as a climate justice activist seriously; she believes her work and future are deeply rooted in being ethically responsible to those most impacted by climate change. But first, she heads to Binghamton University for a dual master's program in sustainable communities and public administration.

Civil rights activist Tarana Burke gave the keynote address and accepted an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, presented by Brooklyn College President Michelle J. Anderson at the 2019 Commencement Ceremony, held at the Barclays Center in Downtown Brooklyn May 30. The founder of the #MeToo movement emphasized the need for people to create movements based on working collectively.
